Australian Brittany Pedigree Database
The Australian Brittany Pedigree Database was established in 2013 with the mission of documenting and preserving the rich history of the Brittany breed, both in Australia and internationally. What began as a personal journey to trace the lineage of my own dogs quickly evolved into a broader endeavor to create a comprehensive, accurate, and accessible resource for the global Brittany community.
Since its inception, the database has expanded steadily, now encompassing over 40,000 entries from not only Australia but also countries across the globe. It serves as a valuable repository of pedigree information, chronicling all registered Australian Brittanys, tracing their lineage back to the original four imported dogs, and extending to related dogs worldwide. The database also includes early records of the French Epagneul Bretons, the breed’s French ancestors, offering unique insights into the origins and development of the Brittany.
At the core of this project is the commitment to preserving the breed’s history and ensuring that valuable genealogical data is easily accessible to breeders, enthusiasts, and researchers alike. The database offers a thorough and meticulous record of each dog’s lineage, which can be vital for breeders seeking to maintain the integrity of the breed and understand its genetic health. In addition to pedigree records, we are continually collecting and sharing important health, genetic, and performance data to further the understanding and education of the breed’s characteristics and needs.

Accuracy Of Information
The pedigrees contained within the Australian Brittany Pedigree Database are compiled and maintained to the highest standards by the Brittany Pedigree Database Administrative Team. We strive for the utmost accuracy in documenting each dog’s lineage and relevant data. However, as the database is an ongoing project, it is important to note that errors may occasionally occur. All entries are manually added and carefully verified, but due to the vast volume of information and the continuous nature of the updates, some discrepancies may still exist.
We are committed to ensuring the accuracy of the information and are constantly working to verify and update entries as new data becomes available. Should you encounter any information that appears to be incorrect, or if you possess verified proof of different data, we encourage you to contact us. We greatly appreciate your input, as it helps us improve the database and ensure that all records reflect the most accurate and up-to-date information possible.
Your assistance in this regard is invaluable to the ongoing accuracy and integrity of the Australian Brittany Pedigree Database.
Resources
To ensure the integrity and accuracy of the information within the Australian Brittany Pedigree Database, we rely on official and reputable sources whenever possible. All dogs included in the database must have certified pedigrees, which are verified through recognized registries such as the Fédération Cynalogique Internationale (FCI), the Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC), the American Kennel Club (AKC), the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), the Kennel Club (UK), and other established organizations. We reserve the right to exclude any dog from the database if its pedigree is not officially recognized.
In addition to these certified registries, we occasionally consult other public sources to enrich the information, including published media such as historical canine journals and articles. We also incorporate data provided directly by breeders, owners, and enthusiasts who contribute their knowledge and insights. These contributions play an important role in helping to maintain the depth and accuracy of the database.By using these credible and authoritative sources, we strive to provide a reliable and comprehensive resource for the Brittany community, ensuring that all information is as accurate and up to date as possible.
